GIDC Bhavan, previously served as a canteen for the neighbouring MG Science Institute. The unused building seemed to be an apt location for a large versatile space for the University, for hosting juries, seminars, lectures, meetings and exhibitions

design response

• To sensitively restore a heritage structure, dating back from 1940’s, to its core aesthetics

• To re-purpose the existing spatial configuration of a canteen, by minimal but strategic alterations, for a new multipurpose facility

• To create an appropriate forecourt for the events that demanded a gathering space
